Welcome to Mind the Typos! I had the pleasure of interviewing Robmar Porter, also known as Pathos, the brilliant mind behind the mesmerizing alternate universe depicted in "Black Atlantis." This metaphysical fiction and urban erotica fusion has been making waves, boasting a perfect 5.0 out of 5 stars rating on Amazon. Let's dive into the mind of the creator and unravel the mysteries behind this captivating book.
1. Could you please introduce yourself and tell us about your book?
My name is Robmar Porter, aka Pathos. I’m the author of the metaphysical fiction/urban erotica book called BLACK ATLANTIS. I’m addicted to meditation, lyrical elevation, and spiritual stimulation. I rap and also write poetry.
Black Atlantis is the story of an alternate universe in black history wherein we of the west completely separate from the western white world in 1962 for almost a century. This novel goes into depth as to what that would look like and how this extreme exodus would affect America and the world for that matter. My two protagonists, Pathos and Selene, are Soul-mates severed by society. Pathos is the Prince of Black Atlantis, troubled by the choice of war or peace. Selene, a not so normal girl struggling to find out who and what she truly is while living in the United States of the Colorless.
2. What inspired you to write your book, and can you tell us about it?
I am an avid reader, so I wanted to write a book that I always wanted to read. I created what I thought was missing from the literary world.
3. What themes or messages do you hope readers will take away from your book?
There are a lot of themes in this book: Soul vs ego, Fear vs Love, Spirituality vs religion, cultural duty vs individual will.
I wrote this book from many angles to ensure that it resonates with people from all walks of life and philosophical pedigrees.
4. Are there any particular authors or books that influenced your writing style or inspired you?
Richard Wright is my favorite author! His books, "Black Boy" and "Native Son," opened my eyes to the power of words and how beneficial it is to write about the ills and thrills of black life.
Besides him, no other author influenced my writing style, for I tend to write in riddles and rhymes naturally. Prolific rappers like 2Pac and Lupe Fiasco have influenced me as an author.
